Paddle-Specific Construction

Raglan sleeves and articulated shoulders allow for unrestricted rotation during each paddle stroke. Seams are placed away from high-friction zones to prevent chafing under a PFD (personal flotation device).

Gusseted crotches and articulated knees in bottoms provide full range of motion for seated paddling, kneeling, or moving around on a SUP board.

Low-profile collars are designed to sit comfortably under life jackets without bunching or rubbing.

Sun Protection

Most tops, hoodies, and pants feature UPF 50+ rating, blocking over 98% of UVA and UVB rays. Our sun fabrics are tested for long hours under direct sun and maintain their protection after repeated washes.

Moisture Management

Hydro-Dry technology pulls sweat away from the skin and spreads it across the fabric surface for rapid evaporation. Fabrics dry up to three times faster than standard cotton blends, so you’re not left sitting in damp gear after a splash or a sweat session.

Freedom of Movement

Stretch-Flow 4-way mechanical stretch is incorporated into most styles, allowing the fabric to move with you in every direction. This is especially critical for high-angle paddling strokes and maneuvering on unstable surfaces.

Durability in Harsh Environments

Salt-Shield  treatment protects zippers and fabric from corrosion and degradation caused by saltwater exposure. We use YKK® zippers with anti-corrosion coatings on all outerwear and neoprene pieces.

Reinforced stitching at stress points — including seat areas on shorts and shoulders on tops — ensures gear holds up against abrasion from boat decks, rocks, and sand.

PFD Compatibility

All tops and jackets are designed with a low-profile fit through the torso to minimize bulk under life jackets. Pockets are positioned to remain accessible even when wearing a PFD.

Packability & Convenience

Select outerwear pieces, including the Drift Shell Jacket and Voyage Windbreaker, pack into their own pockets for easy storage in a day hatch or dry bag.

Many tops feature thumb loops to keep sleeves from riding up when putting on or removing a PFD.

Materials & Fabric Technology

We select materials based on three criteria: performance in wet environments, durability, and environmental responsibility. Below is an overview of the key fabrics and technologies used across our collection.

Hydro-Dry Moisture-Wicking Fabric

Used across our performance tops, Hydro-Dry is a lightweight polyester blend engineered to move moisture away from the skin and accelerate evaporation. Fabrics are treated with an anti-microbial finish to reduce odor buildup during long days on the water. Garments using Hydro-Dry typically range from 120 to 150 grams per square meter (GSM), balancing breathability with durability.

Stretch-Flow  4-Way Stretch

Found in our shorts, pants, and hybrid jackets, Stretch-Flow fabrics incorporate elastane or mechanical stretch weaves that allow the material to expand and recover in all directions. This is critical for paddling movements that require twisting, reaching, and kneeling. The fabric construction also resists bagging out over time, maintaining its shape wash after wash.

UPF 50+ Fabric

All of our sun-protective garments are tested to UPF 50+ standards, meaning they block at least 98% of ultraviolet radiation. The protection is achieved through a combination of fabric density, fiber type, and in some cases, added UV-absorbing treatments. Unlike sunscreen, UPF fabric protection does not wear off during the day, making it a reliable choice for long hours on exposed water.

Neoprene

Our neoprene pieces use limestone-based neoprene with a smoothskin outer layer on the Torrent Top for wind resistance. The interior features a quick-dry jersey lining that reduces drying time and adds comfort against the skin. Q: Are these clothes designed to be worn under a PFD (life jacket)?
Yes. All our tops, jackets, and base layers are designed with a low-profile fit through the torso to minimize bulk under a PFD. Seams are placed away from high-friction zones where a life jacket would typically rub, and collars are kept low to avoid interference.

Q: How should I care for my paddle sports apparel?

For performance tops, shorts, and outerwear: machine wash cold with like colors, use mild detergent, and hang dry or tumble dry low. Avoid fabric softeners, as they can impair moisture-wicking properties.

For neoprene items: rinse with fresh water immediately after use, especially if exposed to saltwater. Wash with neoprene-specific soap or mild detergent, and hang dry away from direct sunlight. Do not machine dry.

For DWR-treated items: wash as directed and occasionally tumble dry on low to reactivate the water-repellent finish.

Q: Do your shorts have a liner?
No, our paddle shorts are unlined. This allows you to wear them with or without your preferred base layer and ensures they dry quickly. The absence of a liner also reduces bulk and chafing under a PFD.

Q: What is the difference between the 1.5mm and 2mm Torrent Neoprene Tops?
The 2mm version provides more thermal protection and wind resistance, making it suitable for cooler conditions (50°F–65°F / 10°C–18°C). The 1.5mm version is lighter and more breathable, ideal for mild cool conditions (60°F–75°F / 15°C–24°C). Both feature the same paddle-specific design with a back zipper and flatlock seams.

Q: Are your products suitable for saltwater use?
Absolutely. Our Salt-Shield™ technology is specifically designed to resist corrosion from saltwater exposure. We recommend rinsing gear with fresh water after saltwater use to extend its lifespan.

We offer a 60-day return policy on unworn items with original tags attached. If you’re unsure about sizing or fit, we encourage you to order multiple sizes and return what doesn’t work. Returns are free within the contiguous United States.

Paddle Shorts & Bottoms

Our bottoms are built for mobility and durability. The Tide Stretch Shorts (available in 5″ and 7″ inseams) feature a DWR (durable water-repellent) finish, 4-way stretch fabric, and zippered pockets. They are linerless, giving you the freedom to wear them with or without additional base layers. For cooler days or sun protection, the Hydro Pants offer UPF 50+ coverage with articulated knees and ankle zippers. The Guide Hybrid Jogger bridges the gap between performance and casual wear, with a tapered leg and multiple pockets for gear storage.

When temperatures drop, our neoprene and thermal layers provide core warmth without sacrificing mobility. The Torrent Neoprene Top (available in 1.5mm and 2mm) features a smoothskin front panel that blocks wind, a back zipper for easy entry, and flatlock seams to prevent chafe. For cold mornings, the Drift Thermal Base Layer combines merino wool and synthetic fibers for breathable, odor-resistant warmth. The Coast Fleece Vest adds lightweight insulation that fits comfortably under a PFD and retains warmth even when damp.

Outerwear & Shells

Our outerwear is designed for unpredictable weather. The Drift Shell Jacket is a fully seam-sealed, waterproof-breathable shell with pit zips and a helmet-compatible hood. It packs into its own chest pocket for easy storage. The Coast Hybrid Jacket combines a wind-resistant softshell front with a stretch fleece back, offering breathability where you need it most. For light wind and splash protection, the Voyage Windbreaker is an ultra-packable option that folds into its own pocket.
