Rafting Apparel

Life Vest For Rafting1

The Rafting Philosophy: Freedom of Movement, Certainty of Protection

Rafting demands gear that moves with you, protects without compromise, and dries in an instant. Our Rafting Collection is born from the water—designed for the unique blend of immersion, exertion, and exposure found on the river. Every piece is built with a singular focus: to let you focus on the run, not your gear.

Core Technologies: Purpose-Built for Whitewater

Our apparel system is built on three pillars: HydroLock Waterproofing, SwiftDry Thermal Management, and Impact-Ready Durability.

01 The HydroLock Outer Layer: Your First Line of Defense

Whether it’s a splash jacket or a dry top, the outer layer is engineered to seal out water. Constructed from our RiverShield 15K/10K fabric, it provides a waterproof rating of 15,000mm and breathability of 10,000g/m²/24hr—optimized for the high-exertion, high-splash environment of the river.

Latex Gaskets: Adjustable, replaceable latex neck and wrist gaskets provide a watertight seal.

Double-Layer Tunnel Hem: Compatible with spray skirts and waders for a complete dry system.

Quick-Release Over-Zipper: Reinforced with a hook-and-loop storm flap to prevent snagging and ensure a secure seal.

02 The SwiftDry Thermal Layer: Warmth When It Counts

Underneath, warmth must persist even when wet. Our thermal layers utilize advanced hydrophobic insulation to keep you warm through splashes, sweat, and immersion.

Merino Wool Blend: Naturally odor-resistant and insulating even when damp. Used in our base layers for all-day comfort.

Thermal Fleece: High-loft, quick-drying polyester fleece with anti-pilling treatment. Ideal as a mid-layer under a dry top.

PrimaLoft Silver Eco: Lightweight synthetic insulation (70% recycled) that retains 90% of its warmth when wet. Used in our river jackets and hoodies.

03 Integrated System: Seamless Layering for the Run

Our apparel is designed to work as a system. A SwiftDry base layer wicks moisture; a thermal mid-layer retains heat; and the HydroLock outer shell blocks wind, spray, and rain. The combination allows you to adapt to shifting conditions—from a cool, misty morning put-in to a sunny afternoon on flat water.

From River to Shore: Your Scenarios, Solved

The Multi-Day Expedition
Pack the HydroLock Dry Top and SwiftDry Merino Base Layer. Start cool in the morning with both layers; shed the dry top during midday paddling; layer back up for evening camp chores. One system, full versatility.

The Summer Guide Life
A River Hoodie with UPF protection is your daily uniform. Pair with HydroLock Pants for splash protection and durability against rocky shorelines. Quick-drying fabric means you’re ready for the next trip in minutes.

Cold-Water Commitment
Combine the PrimaLoft Thermal Mid-Layer under the Dry Top with HydroLock  Pants over a wetsuit. Latex gaskets and a tunnel hem create a sealed system for frigid runs, while underarm zippers allow heat dump during intense paddling.

Family Float Trip
A Splash Jacket over a simple SwiftDry Base Layer provides enough protection for casual paddling. Easy on/off, relaxed fit, and bright color options for visibility.

Technical Innovation & Responsible Craftsmanship

A. Material Science for the River

Outer Fabric: 3-layer or 2.5-layer waterproof/breathable nylon with PFC-free DWR. Tear-resistant and flexible.

Seam Construction: Fully taped seams on all dry wear; critical seam sealing on splash wear.

Sustainability: Where possible, fabrics are bluesign APPROVED and include recycled content.

B. Ergonomic & Functional Design

Articulated Patterning: Pre-curved sleeves and gusseted underarms for unrestricted paddle stroke.

Strategic Ventilation: Underarm zippers (on select dry tops) for heat dump during high-output paddling.

Smart Storage: Zippered chest pockets (on splash jackets and hoodies) with drainage to keep small items secure yet dry.

Adjustable Fit: Bungee cord hems, hook-and-loop cuffs, and adjustable hoods that fit over helmets or caps.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between a Dry Top and a Splash Jacket?

A Dry Top features latex gaskets at the neck and wrists and a tunnel hem (or double-tunnel hem) that attaches to a spray skirt or wader waistband, creating a watertight seal. It’s designed for sustained immersion or heavy spray. A Splash Jacket has adjustable (usually hook-and-loop) cuffs and a relaxed hem. It sheds light rain and spray but is not intended for immersion. It’s ideal for warm-weather rafting or as a wind layer.

2. How do I choose the right insulation?

Merino Wool: Best for base layers. Provides comfort, odor resistance, and warmth even when damp.

PrimaLoft / Synthetic: Best for mid-layers or standalone river jackets. Retains warmth when wet and dries quickly.

Fleece: A versatile, affordable, and quick-drying mid-layer option.

3. How should rafting apparel fit?

Fit should allow a full, unrestricted paddle stroke without excess fabric that could snag on gear. For dry tops, the latex gaskets should be snug but not cutting off circulation. For splash wear, a relaxed fit is fine. When layering, ensure your mid-layer and base layer fit comfortably under the outer shell without restricting movement.

4. How do I care for my rafting gear?

Rinse: Always rinse with fresh water after use in salt water or dirty rivers. Hang to dry away from direct sunlight.

Wash: Use a technical gear cleaner (like Nikwax Tech Wash) in a front-loading machine on a gentle cycle. Avoid detergents with fabric softeners or bleach.

Dry: Tumble dry on low or hang dry. Do not store wet gear. Store dry tops partially zipped to protect the gaskets.

Latex Gaskets: Treat with 303 Protectant or a similar UV protectant periodically to extend life. Replace worn gaskets as needed (many of our tops have replaceable gaskets).

5. What is your warranty and repair policy?

We offer a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects on all rafting apparel. We also provide a repair program for common issues such as gasket replacement, seam repair, or zipper replacement. Visit our “Warranty & Repairs” page for details.

6. What is the waterproof rating of your dry wear?

Our HydroLock Dry Tops feature a waterproof rating of 15,000mm and breathability of 10,000g/m²/24hr. This level is specifically chosen for the paddling environment—providing robust protection against immersion and splash while maintaining breathability during high-output activities.
